Plastic injection molds use thermocouple feedback to control individual hot runner heating zones. ELOTEK EHRTC PM1 and RM2 controllers provide PID temperature control for these applications.

A hot runner control unit regulates heater temperatures against their setpoints. Begin with the heating-zone layout and thermocouple wiring of the mold. The injection machine brand alone does not establish controller compatibility.
Confirm the independent nozzle and manifold heating zones from the mold wiring diagram. Then select the controller power-stage design and the mold connection cable as one installation.
Choosing between PM1 and RM2
PM1 uses a semi-modular rack design and an external SSR power stage. RM2 places the power stage on removable controller modules and uses fan cooling. Zone count is only one part of the comparison.
Panel integration, maintenance access and replacement-board requirements also matter. PM1 and RM2 boards should not be substituted without checking the controller series and board revision.
Controller selection checklist
- Independent heating-zone count and installation layout.
- J- or K-type thermocouples and the selected sensor setting.
- Heater power per zone, supply ratings and protection arrangement.
- Connector type, pin assignment, thermocouple polarity and power/signal separation.
- External SSR requirements, panel space and spare-board revision.
Complete controllers, spare boards and mold cables
A complete hot runner controller, a replacement circuit board and a mold cable are different products. A spare board is not a complete control unit. Cable selection requires both zone count and connector/pin verification.
Use the product pages for technical information, available options and manuals. Share the mold wiring diagram and the existing controller label with ELOTEK technical support when checking a selection.
Frequently asked questions
Is a hot runner controller the same as a temperature control unit?
These terms describe the controller family used to regulate hot runner heaters. Always specify the series, zone count and wiring arrangement when selecting a product.
How many control zones do I need?
Count the independent heating circuits in the mold and check the connector arrangement against its wiring diagram.
